Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow

Vintage Necklace from a flea market ($2.50) {similar}
Old Navy Cardigan ($11) {similar}
Sears Floral Top {similar}
Vintage Bracelet from a flea market ($5) {similar}
Old Navy Maxi Skirt ($12) {similar}
Thrifted Belt ($3) {similar}
Payless Boots {similar}

I didn't realize I was standing right over a wet spot before these were taken.  Looks worse than it is, I promise...

I wore this to church and later, to a hymn sing.  It was a bitter sweet day since that will be the last church event we'll attend here.  We have been so very blessed by our New York church family, it's hard to put into words.  We will miss them dearly.

Our moving plans are coming along well, and we have decided to stay with my parents while my husband is between jobs.  Which means I'll have internet access right away, and will be able to get back to blogging and working on my Etsy store. :)  I have some awesome guest posts lined up for the week of our move, however!

Vintage Jewelry and the Dress Search

Old Navy Hat ($16)
Old Navy Cardigan ($11)
Kohl's Top
Old Navy Jeans ($30)
Connie Boots via Famous Footwear (clearance, $40)
Vintage Necklace via a flea market ($2.50)
Vintage Bracelet via a flea market ($5)

I apologize for the less than awesome photos, but I really like this outfit!  I had just gotten the necklace and bracelet the day before, along with two other bracelets, and was excited to wear them.  I decided to keep it simple with the black and let the colorful necklace be the focus.

I'm usually not much for bracelets, but I really like this one.  I've been wearing it every day since I got it!

I wore this on Saturday for a day out with my husband.  Part of his Valentine's Day gift to me was a "coupon" for a new dress.  I have never had such a hard time finding a dress I liked as I did on Saturday.  We walked all over the mall and to several other stores as well, and I finally found one for just $8 at Burlington Coat Factory.  I swear, most of the dresses out now are either 100% chiffon or really slim fitting, either of which are really "me"!  Oh well...it was still great to have a nice lunch and spend some time with my husband before we start packing and moving. :)

I don't usually get all fangirl over the latest movie/book fad, but I really, REALLY liked The Hunger Games. I've been wanting to do a Katniss inspired outfit for a while, and with the move coming out in less than a month, it seemed like a good time. :)

Have you jumped on the Hunger Games boat yet?

Hemmed: Striped Maxi

Maxi Dress ($14): Kohl's (similar)
Cardigan ($11): Target (similar)
Scarf ($3.75): Walmart (similar)
Booties ($30): American Eagle via Payless (similar)
Earrings ($4): Kohl's (similar)
Bracelets: Gifts

I spent much of last Friday working through my repair pile.  This dress was way too long (as most maxi dresses are on me) and needed a hem.  I ended up just cutting the extra off the bottom so it would curl.  I've had this dress for a few months, and am glad I'm finally able to wear it! It has a racer back on it too, so it'll be great for summer.

Do you alter your clothes to fit you?

Vintage Feminine

Sweater ($17): Old Navy (similar)
Earrings (free): were my mom's (similar)
Scarf ($7): Burlington (similar)
Skirt ($4): Vintage, Thrifted
Boots ($30): Wanted via The Shoe Dept. (similar)

I thrifted this awesome little skirt last week.  I think next time I'll wear it with the top tucked in and heels!

This skirt was so much fun to wear.  It feels super feminine, and I felt amazing in it.

What pieces of clothing make you feel awesome?

Speaking of vintage, I'm excited to announce that I'm now selling vintage on Etsy. You can click here to see my shop! There's only a few things there now, but I'll be adding more very soon. :)

Scarves, 3 Ways

If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you know that I love me a good scarf.  They are so easy to wear, keep me warm, and can often pull an outfit together.  Here are a few of my favorite scarf looks.

Tie a scarf around your head in the summer to add some interest to your look.

I don't usually get too daring with my manicures, but this week I painted on a festive heart. :)

I'm Moving = Guest Bloggers Needed!

Dress ($20): JC Penney
Wrap Cardi ($7.50): H&M via Consignment
Necklace: Gift
Leggings ($5): F21
Boots (clearance, $40): Connie via Famous Footwear

I'm not gonna lie: getting dressed has not been my top priority this week.  The last few outfits were from over the weekend, and I'm glad to have taken them in advance.

I have a lot going on right now.  I won't bore you with the details, but I will mention that we have a big move coming up next month.  My husband's active duty contract with the Army will be ending, and we will be relocating to my home state of Michigan.

This both excites and terrifies me.  The military life is rough, but it also provides a lot of security in the form of a steady paycheck, health insurance, and many other benefits.  This isn't a lifestyle that either my husband or I enjoy, so we are glad for the change, and glad to be moving closer to my family.  However, it is quite nerve wracking not knowing what we'll be doing a month from now.

And with that, I will be putting out a call for guest posters!  If you have something you want to share here between March 12th and...sometime... shoot me an email and we'll talk. :)  I'm looking for posts that are on topic with this blog: outfits, modest/frugal style, thrifting, diabetes, etc.  If you have a moving experience to share, I'd love to hear about that too!

Please email me before the end of this month!  I'm looking forward to hearing from you. :)

Over-Sized for Petites

Sweater ($?): Old Navy stolen from my husband (similar)
Scarf ($14): Target (similar)
Jeans ($30): Old Navy (similar)
Boots ($8): Reflections via 14 Shades of Grey (similar)
Earrings (clearance, $4): Mudd via Kohl's (similar)
Bracelets (gifts): Pandora, Etsy

I'm still not sure whether I've succeeded with this look or not, but I'm sharing it anyway because that's what this blog is about. :)  I love the over sized sweater look, but when you're petite, it can prove tricky.

I didn't feel like this look was finished until I tucked in the front.  I think that helps give a little shape to this outfit.

In any case, this was definitely really, really comfy. :)

What do you think?  Do you ever wear over sized clothes?

Scarf: DIY'd from a sweater (similar)

Today I'm dressed for both Bloggers Do It Better (wear red) and Everybody Everywear (wear red and pink)!

I'm generally not a fan of this color combo, but I think the darker red makes it work for me.
