Sweet Style: 1.25.15

grey top, pink scarf, polka dot jeans, grey boots

Gap Scarf (similar), Top (here) and Jeans (similar)
Famous Footwear Boots (similar)

Totally didn't realize I was wearing basically all Gap until I was putting together this post. I suppose it shouldn't be too surprising, pretty much all my clothes that aren't from thrift stores are from Gap.

This was my really easy Saturday outfit. This top just came in the mail and it's my new favorite. Gap had an awesome winter sale a few weeks back and I snagged this for a mere $3. Can't beat it.

What are your favorite clothes lately?

Sweet Style: 1.21.15

Vanity Blazer (similar)
Hanes Tee (here)
Jean c/o American Eagle (here)
Connie Boots (similar)
Kohl's Scarf (similar)

I usually wear a skirt to church, but for the month of January, we have nursery duty. Which means I have to be able to sit on the floor with 1 year olds. Which means pants. The blazer made it feel a little dressier, and better yet, it's a stretchy cotton. Perfect for nursery duty.

This Week's Eats {1.19.15}

I thought it would be fun to start posting our weekly meal plan. Menu planning is a big part of my week. It saves me so much time and frustration, not to mention money. I make a list based off my menu, and only buy what I need.

We're all about easy, healthy, comfort food. I'm a very no-fuss cook. If you want a three course meal, you should probably eat somewhere else. Here's what we're eating this week.

unfortunately, we're not eating caramel corn this week
Monday: Slow Cooker Pork Chops and Roasted Sweet Potatoes

Tuesday: Pasta Primavera (I'll be lightening this up a bit by subbing in greek yogurt and milk)

Wednesday: Thai Meatballs and Rice

Thursday: Tomato Soup and Grilled Ham and Cheese (I generally hate tomato soup, but this is delicious)

Friday: Fall Detox Salad and Pizza

What are you eating this week?

Sweet Style: January 18

Thrifted Dress (similar)
Modcloth Cardigan (here)
Target Leggings (here)
Thrifted Booties (similar)

Oh hey, an outfit. Getting dressed hasn't been a top priority lately. I still don't have a job, and we've been spending a lot of time working on the house lately, which means wearing junky clothes that I don't mind getting wallpaper paste, paint, and sawdust on.

I threw this on to go out to lunch and run some errands with J yesterday. When I do get dressed, I've been really digging my neutrals lately.

Ceiling Paper

For the last month J and I have been working on putting new ceilings in 3 rooms of our home. This has included installing drywall over the existing lathe and plaster (which has been falling down since we moved in), wallpapering, putting up new light fixtures, and trim. It's been a big job, but it's been going well.

Why wallpaper, you may ask? Well, since we're not expert drywallers, we needed something substantial to cover up our subpar mudding job. It was this or popcorn ceilings...

I chose a faux wood for the dining room. I was skeptical, but I gotta say, it looks quite a lot like real wood. There will be a ceiling fan where that poor, bare light bulb is, and some cute crown molding to come.

And in the kitchen, a faux bead board. This paper is kind of weird...it's not printed, but textured with foam. It was a bit trickier to install, but with some touching up at the seams, it'll look pretty snazzy.
