DIYs Lately

I've been doing a lot of work on our little house the past month. Here's a little of what I've been up to.

In the bathoom:

white washed cabinets

I painted the walls a nice, crisp white, and white washed the cabinets.

his and hers bathroom hooks

Bought some letters for about $1 a piece, painted them black, and nailed them above some hooks. It's kind of my new favorite thing in the house.

In the decor department:
  framed hymns

I've been wanting to frame some of our favorite hymns for years. Literally, years. A few weeks ago I found a hymnbook and a few simple black frames at the thrift store. Done. And I love it.

I also finally got around to printing and framing some of my favorite free printables I've been collecting.

painted and styled shelf

I got this little shelf at a garage sale months ago. This week I gave it a fresh coat of paint. Can you tell I have a thing for white paint?

What have you DIY'd lately?

Target Dress (similar)
Thrifted Levi's Jacket (on sale here)
Payless Booties (similar)

We've been enjoying some cooler weather this week, so I've been enjoying some cooler outfits. I'm loving this summer, but I'm already kind of excited for fall.

J and I are doing our best to soak up as much summer as we can. He goes back to school in 5 short weeks so we're doing our best to live it up. We went camping last weekend and have a small bucket list of things to do with our remaining weeks. Like the MSU Dairy Store, antiquing, and more grilling.

What's on tap for the rest of your summer?

Oh hi! Nice to see you again. :-)

We've had a busy July so far. I've been off work and my husband and I have been slowly but surely trying to get as many house projects done as possible. I'm hoping to share our updated bathroom with you all soon. It's so close to done. I can taste it.

How as your summer been?

Shapeless

indigo dress, brown wedges

Gap Dress (similar)
Walmart Sandals (similar)
Kohl's Earrings (similar)
Necklace via Sassy Steals

I saw a style blogger going off on twitter a few days ago about how she can't stand to see girls wear shapeless dresses. I happened to be wearing this at the time and I couldn't help but laugh. When it's insanely hot with an insane amount of humidity in the air, the last thing I want is something else touching my body. This was sweaty enough as it was. And sweat is less cute than a belt.

June in Review

June! You seriously flew by. Here's how it went down:

Buying:
June Buys
Coldwater Creek Shorts via Garage Sale; Thrifted Dress; Minnetonka Moccs via Lord and Taylor
Total: $20.50

I didn't do a whole lot of shopping this month. Half the month was spend on the shopping ban, and the other half I just plain didn't have any extra money to spend on clothes. I did happily replace my old falling apart moccs though after finding these at a deep discount.

Reading:

I did a LOT of reading this month. The library was my BFF. I read the entire Giver Quartet, which was excellent. I also read Francine River's new one, Bridge to Haven, which was also excellent. I also finally got to The Fault in Our Stars, Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day, and Brain in Fire. All so good.

Watching: The new season of 24. We're totally hooked, you guys.

succulent in a teacup

Loving: Succulents in teacups, headscarves, sunny days, and fans to make the sunny days more bearable.

How was your June?
